Oct 31, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX News Network) -- 10/31/2009-In Barron's most recent publication Mark Veverka wrote a piece entitled "Google Searches for Another Winner," discussing Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) near-term prospects in a book called "Googled: The End of the World as We Know It." The book's writer Ken Auletta writes that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) should be credited with the "one-trick description" of Google since 97% of its revenue is generated from online advertising. He says that investors shouldn't worry about the company moving into other businesses like video, mobile, cloud computing etc. because "advertising dollars continue to abandon traditional media and flood the Internet, where Google has brilliantly cornered the market in paid online search, with about a 66% market share of total search." Veverka says the book never says whether or not Auletta thinks Google will ever become more than just a "one-trick pony, " but he says Google will be able to diversify successfully.
