Nov 02, 2009 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX News Network) -- 11/2/2009 - Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been pitching an idea to major TV networks that would tap its huge base of iTunes accounts for a $30 per month subscription television service, according to an All Things Digital report that cites multiple unnamed sources. The service would not be tied to a specific piece of hardware like its Apple TV. The company told industry executives that it aims to launch the service next year, but there is little evidence that any companies have committed to the idea. Peter Kafka, who wrote the ATD report, suspects that a prime candidate will be Disney (NYSE:DIS), who has shown willingness to experiment with iTunes before.
