Saudis sign contract to buy US-made civil aviation radar - agency

[Dateline missing, as received] Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, who is also the President of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), has signed a SR 222 million worth a contract for civil navigational radar system with the US international company of Raytheon.

The contract, an important step to develop the air navigation system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will enter into force during a period of 36 months from the date of signature.

It also includes the manufacturing, installation and checking of (21) modern system of navigation" surveillance keeping pace with latest developments in modern technologies in this field and aims at providing radar coverage for all parts of Saudi airspace to service and control air traffic routes at altitudes of (15) thousand feet and above.
